The Ceremonial Eventscape Arbour at Western University sits outside of the Wampum Learning Lodge, which was designed by Canada’s first female Indigenous architect and leader of Tawaw Architecture, Wanda Dalla Costa. The free-standing structure is clad with glue-laminated timber and features laser cut wood panels. The arbour is a sacred space, used to observe and celebrate Indigenous ways of knowing and being. Taking influence from traditional aspects of Indigenous life, the structure is inspired by a traditional Haudenosaunee lacrosse stick basket.
