Located within Oak Ridges Moraine, the University of Toronto’s Koffler Scientific Reserve is a hub for research and teachings in ecology and environmental biology. As such, the Koffler Scientific Reserve has in-depth sustainability mandates, and is looking to target net-zero-carbon, net-zero-energy performance, and LEED Gold certification. The use of mass timber within the structure reduces the embodied carbon within the building, supporting the goals of scientists and students on site. The project features glue-laminated timber and timber decking.
